Hello Fiddle Teachers and Students:
This August, Daniel Lapp and the Victoria Conservatory of Music, in coordination with the Kamloops Old-Time Fiddlers Association and the Canadian Grand Masters Fiddling Association will host a province-wide, youth fiddle workshop. The dates are from the late afternoon of Sunday, August 17 to mid-morning on Sunday, August 24.
The workshop is designed for Advanced/Intermediate + youth who LOVE fiddle music and would like to immerse themselves in a weeklong adventure of learning and building relationships with other like-minded kids.
The curriculum will be diverse and will include an overview of world fiddle styles, composition, arranging, music business and ear training. It will be interactive and cooperative, and we are quite sure that you will be Tired at night(!) There will be extra-curricular activities around the Kamloops area and you will be involved in the Canadian Grand Masters Fiddle Championships held in Kamloops on Aug. 22 & 23.
COST: $350/student (with approx. $900 tuition scholarship included)
EXTRA COSTS: your travel to and from Kamloops, extra spending $ (not that you’ll have time) COSTS INCLUDE: food and lodging (shared quad rooms) at Thompson Rivers University, local travel, Dx to Events, teaching materials and instruction
*NOTE: other instruments welcome to audition,
limited space, 13 – 19 yrs of age
